Programming: Business Locator The Challenge: We had to provide the list of restaurants across US with following information: name of restaurants, type (Pizza, Chinese etc), full address, phone (if present), URL (if present) and coordinate of restaurant (Longtitude/Lattitude). The Solution: The list of restaurants was acquired from Altavista YellowPages and conversion from address to coord was done with help of Mapblast! To manage with this task we had to provide the tools for download required information from Altavista and Mapblast and for parsing downloaded information to strip useless for us information, split necessary information and place it in database. For speed up the process of download and reduce the cost of project the existent multi-threaded spider from Search Server project was adopted. Development environment:
